The Most Important Thing to Know When Searching for God
If you are searching to know God the most important thing you need to do first is make a decision in your heart to sincerely desire truth. God is a Father and He knows the desires of your heart. If your heart is sincere in seeking truth then He will make sure that you will know truth. Truth is a person, Jesus Christ. Jesus says, “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Me,” (John 14:6). If you are seeking truth, you will come to know that Jesus Christ is Truth.
God’s truth is not relative, it does not change. “God is not a man, that He should lie, Nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good? (Numbers 23:19 NKJV)
Truth requires humility; you must humble yourself before God and ask to know the truth. Pride always leads to deception because it rejects God and tries to be a god. You must accept that God is God and you are a creation of God. If you are seeking God’s truth then you are seeking the true God. If you are seeking your “own truth”, your own way, then you will walk into the darkness of deception.
There are only two ways, two religions, two paths; God’s way and your way. God will allow you to reject Him and choose your own way if that is your desire. God’s desire is to be loved by you and that you will receive His love. Loving God begins by believing Him, trusting Him.
God created you with the power to choose Him or reject Him because love without choice is not true love. Love is a decision. When you know the God of truth you will know that you can trust Him more than you can trust yourself. Then you will discover that He is also the God of love. Everything that is good comes from Him; light, life, love, truth, and justice. God’s love is better than life. (Psalms 63:3)
Because God wanted to make the unchanging nature of his purpose very clear to the heirs of what was promised, he confirmed it with an oath. God did this so that, by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled to take hold of the hope offered to us may be greatly encouraged. (Hebrews 6:17-18 NIV)
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. Do not be carried away by all kinds of strange teachings. It is good for our hearts to be strengthened by grace, not by ceremonial foods, which are of no value to those who eat them. (Hebrews 13:8-9 NIV)
Don’t be deceived, my dear brothers. Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. (James 1:16-17 NIV)
“I am the Alpha and the Omega—the beginning and the end,” says the Lord God. “I am the One who is, who always was, and who is still to come—the Almighty One.” (Revelation 1:8 NLT)
