Your Ultimate Purpose Part 3
The New You
Therefore, if anyone is united with the Messiah, he is a new creation — the old has passed; look, what has come is fresh and new! (2 Corinthians 5:17 CJB)
Born From Above
Jesus taught that we must be born again. The phrase born again also means to be born from above. Jesus answered him, I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, that unless a person is born again (anew, from above), he cannot ever see (know, be acquainted with, and experience) the kingdom of God. (John 3:3 AMP)

Jesus went on to say that this is a spiritual experience. “That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’ The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit”, (John 3:6-8 NKJV).
You are spirit, soul and body; (1 Thessalonians 5:23). At the core of who you are is your spirit. Your spirit connects you to God, it is your conscience and it is the source of light and life for your soul and body. Your soul is your personality, including your mind and emotions. The Bible refers to your soul as your heart. Through your physical body you are able to interact with the physical realm.
Your body and physical senses receive information from the physical realm. Your spirit and spiritual senses receive from the spiritual realm, including the Kingdom of God. Your soul receives information from both your physical body and from your spirit. Your soul, or heart, makes decisions based on your understanding of truth and the information you receive through your senses, both physical and spiritual. The Scriptures tell us, “The first man, Adam, became a living person.” But the last Adam–that is, Christ–is a life-giving Spirit, (1 Corinthians 15:45 NLT). You are meant to be a spirit-being, united with Jesus Christ.
Word Of God
One of the titles of Jesus Christ is the “Word of God”, (John 1:1). The expression for Word is the Greek word Logos. Logos is where we get the word logic from. Logos is not just a word that is spoken, it also means the thought, a way of thinking, intelligence. It also communicates an image, a revelation, an idea, and a blueprint.
Jesus Christ is the living expression of Father God; He is the Father’s communication and revelation in every way. You cannot separate God from His Word; all that God is, creates, and reveals, is through Jesus Christ, the Word of God. (John 1:1-4; Colossians 1:15-17) The word of God also refers to the Holy Bible as written communication from God. The Bible is given to us so we can know and recognize truth. Jesus Christ is Truth.
Receiving and believing God’s Word in your heart imparts His will and His ways, His desire and His DNA. When you receive His Word, you receive Him. You have been regenerated (born again), not from a mortal origin (seed, sperm), but from one that is immortal by the ever living and lasting Word of God, (1 Peter 1:23 AMP).
The Gospel of Jesus Christ is the message that you are rescued from a life of sin and made holy by the blood Jesus shed on the cross for you. The name Jesus actually means God saves, or God rescues. When you heard the Gospel, deep inside your heart your spirit told you this is truth. You wanted to be free from sin and you desired a new life. You then made a heart decision to believe and trust God, which is faith. For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith–and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God–not by works, so that no one can boast. (Ephesians 2:8-9 NIV)
When you accepted God’s grace by believing His Word, you received Jesus Christ and He received you. And you also were included in Christ when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation. Having believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession–to the praise of his glory. (Ephesians 1:13-14 NIV)
The words of God are not just words, they carry His Spirit and create life. Jesus says, “The words I have spoken are spirit and they are life,” (John 6:63). In the Kingdom of God everything is spirit and has life. The spirit realm is more real than the physical realm. The physical realm is temporary but the spirit realm is eternal, (2 Corinthians 4:18).
Revelation of Jesus comes through the Holy Spirit as we receive communication from God. This is often through enlightenment of the scriptures in the Holy Bible. We grow from being a spiritual baby into maturity as we receive revelation from the Word. Like newborn babies, long for the pure milk of the word, so that by it you may grow in respect to salvation, if you have tasted the kindness of the Lord. (1 Peter 2:2-3 NASB) As His Word becomes who you are, you grow up into Christ.
The New You
When you are born from above your spirit becomes one with the Spirit of Jesus Christ. But the person who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him. (1 Corinthians 6:17 NLT) Your born again spirit is a new creation, the new you. Your spirit is now joined with the Spirit of Christ, which is also the Holy Spirit. And because you are sons, God has sent the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, crying, “Abba, Father!” (Galatians 4:6 HCSB) The Spirit of Christ is the Spirit of being a child of God.
Now, Jesus Christ is as close to you as your own heart. He is part of you and you are part of Him. His promise is that He will never leave you, never reject you; (Hebrews 13:5). He is your constant companion, best friend, protector and elder brother, (Romans 8:29). You are now His disciple. Disciple means to be a student or follower. Jesus is your teacher, instructing you how to walk with God, as His child. Jesus is your dream come true, an ever-present help in trouble and a mentor who guides you into all truth through His Spirit. Jesus reveals the Father and He is the way to the Father. His Spirit guides you into oneness with the Father, into holiness and love.
But when the truth-giving Spirit comes, He will unveil the reality of every truth within you. He won’t speak His own message, but only what He hears from the Father, and He will reveal and speak to you what is to come. He will glorify Me on the earth, for He will receive from Me what is Mine and reveal it to you. (John 16:13-14 TPT)
